Colorado’s Legal Marijuana Market Estimates $1 Billion In 2016

Colorado has been the first state in the Nation to fully legalize marijuana, for medicinal and recreational use. After a full year of data, the State did not see the negative consequences that the opposition warned them about.

It appears that the crime has gone down in Denver according to statistics from denvergov.org, and  an article by the Washington Post shows stoned drivers are more safe than drunk drivers.

Last year, according to a Washington Post analysis of recently-released tax data from the state’s Department of Revenue. In 2014, Colorado retailers sold $386 million of medical marijuana and $313 million for purely recreational purposes. The two sectors of the market generated $63 million in tax revenue, with an additional $13 million collected in licenses and fees.
